A calling to help in the parish

Regulars at St Andrew's and Emmanuel are used to seeing and hearing from people who are not clergy.  Last Saturday in Chester Cathedral there was a service in which two members of these congregations were licensed by the Bishop to help in the parish: Geoff Cooke as a lay reader (authorised to preach), and Jane Holland as a Pastoral worker.  The Diocesan website has an interesting article about Jane and her path to this role, which you can read here. We know we will continue benefitting from both their ministries.

Geoff is a professional gardener with a passion for spiritual growth and understanding. He has served in teaching roles in several other churches prior to coming to St Andrew's and has completed a PhD on aspects of Calvin's theology.

Jane Holland is a part-time primary school teacher in Wilmslow. Despite a personal tragedy some years ago, she says God has always had a plan for her life, which eventually led her to follow his call to licensed ministry.
